Tracy’s Healthy Lifestyle and Fitness Journey Part 3

I am a 49 year old mum to six children , three of which are still at home, their ages 20, 12 and almost 8, I also live with my husband, Stephen. I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2015. I love to Dance and have fun on TikTok, you can find me on there @tracywhite41 or by clicking the link below. I try and keep fit in the hope it will slow down the progression of Parkinson’s. This is my journey in leading a healthier and fitness lifestyle.

10th – 16th October

This week has been extremely difficult, I seem to be suffering an awful lot with my Parkinson’s Symptoms which is hindering my exercise goals. My Fitbit strap broke so I was unable to get an accurate step reading for this week.

Or rather lack of it has been a huge problem in recent weeks, as I write this now it is 3.35am! I fall a sleep no problem but I wake after a few hours and bam, that’s it.. I’m awake for the rest of the night. Tiredness creates so many issues with my health in general, I feel low and lethargic most days.

Also fairly recent I have been in a lot of pain, it’s hard to explain but my legs just hurt, a painful ache I guess is the best way to describe it, my knees are painful too (knees due to arthritis) . I’m not sure if this is a Parkinson’s symptom or not but I have slowed up considerably on my treadmill.

My diet has improved, I continue with my cooked healthy breakfast, crackers for lunch and a healthy evening meal of salad and fish with crackers. There is room for much improvement though and I still haven’t created a weekly menu yet which I need to do. My aim is to have more fruit and vegetables in my diet. I have stopped drinking alcohol during the week too so I am moving in the right direction.

Emotional Stress

My husband and I have agreed he needs to return to work, although he owns a farm and rents it out the income is not sufficient enough for us to live comfortably. He is currently going through the medical procedure so he can retain his HGV license. When he does return to work he will be away all week which means I will be doing the school runs as well as taking care of the family. There is added worries too, my husband has already mentioned the possibility he may want to live in the city nearer to his job, I hope this is not the case but I will deal with this if it happens. No point worrying about the “What ifs”

Weight Gain

Although I said in my previous articles Weight loss wasn’t my priority, I have decided to lose 7lbs as my weight has slowly gone up. 7lbs is not a huge amount to lose but it will make a huge difference to me. Next week I will start my weigh ins and hopefully by Christmas I will be back to my desired weight.

Moving Forward

Even though it’s looking hopeless at the moment I will not give in, I am still exercising, I just need to slow down whilst my symptoms are so bad. I am hoping my worsening symptoms are temporary and when my life is back on track and my pain has eased I will be able to move forward at a quicker pace. Although, I also need to accept my recent deterioration is permanent but if it is I need to adapt around this and still move forward.

Head up, Shoulders back Tomorrow is a new day!
