I have been diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease since 2015, when I was 43 years of age. The diagnosis came as a complete shock and so it has taken me time and effort to come to accept the change to how I expected my life to be.
I live with my husband and children in Lincolnshire, England and I have been volunteering within the Parkinson’s community for almost as long as I have been diagnosed.
It was through volunteering that I met Deano. He lives with his husband and their two cheeky dogs in Suffolk, England and we have worked within a team of volunteers to run a support group on Facebook, called Parkinson’s Road. In fact, I recall the day we created the group very well and we had no idea it would be so successful.
The reason we have created this site, is to share a wider range of what we both do, in terms of doing our best to live well, have fun and not let Parkinson’s stop us from enjoying life. We wanted to share that message with you and, whether you have Parkinson’s or not, hopefully inspire you to get up, fight to keep going and above all, to live life to the full.
